Mennonite Choral Society
This organization presents two programs each year. One is the oratorio, Messiah, which is annually done in the first full weekend of December. The second is an oratorio or a program of sacred works done in the first weekend of May. If an oratorio is done, it is chosen from St. Paul or Elijah, both by Mendelssohn, Requiem by Brahms, and Creation by Haydn. A program of sacred numbers could be done instead of one of these oratorios. All presentations are accompanied by piano and organ.
This group rehearses at 7:00 on Tuesday evenings from October to December for Messiah, and practices from February until May for the spring presentation. No tryouts are necessary to become a member of the choral society. Currently Brent Hyman is director.
