The Coming of Peace — Dec 7, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

During this time of year we hear a lot about peace but see a lack of it all around us. We will look at how the Messiah came to bring us peace with God and the peace of God. We look at what to do when peace is not our reality.

The Coming of Hope — Nov 30, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

As we enter the Advent season we remember that it is a season filled with hope. We as Christians can look back and imagine what it was like to hope for the coming Messiah, and we rejoice that the Messiah has come.  Yet there are things in our lives that fill us with despair instead of hope. We live in a time that we have a hope of Jesus coming and drying every eye.

By Loving the Church — Nov 23, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We are finishing up our pursue series with looking at pursue belonging by loving the church. We love the church because we are told that He will build it. We love the church because it is a victorious church. And we love it because it is precious to God.

By Praying — Nov 16, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We pursue belonging by praying. It was a key component of the early church and it needs to be a key component of the church today as well. One of the reasons is that God will bring a shaking and by prayer we can be prepared. And after being shaken there is a filling.

Let Us Build — Nov 9, 2014

Speaker: Al Taylor

We all have a call from God to be workers toward change, but sometimes we don't get involved because the problems seem so insurmountable.  There is work to be done and we must stop making excuses.  We must bring God's answers to the world.

Jesus in Lively Encounter with the Religions — Nov 2, 2014

Speaker: David Shenk

Every religion tries to answer 3 questions: what is the meaning of life, how do I find forgiveness for my mistakes, and what is my final destination after death.  Jesus has the answers to all fo these questions and we need to carry Jesus to others so they may see, too.

By Dying to Self — Oct 26, 2014

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

We are continuing our journey of pursue belonging, by dying to self. To be a part of the body and belong together it takes sacrifice of not demanding my way, it requires service to and for each other, it also involves love. Jesus showed us what love was by calling a child to himself and challenging his disciples to welcome the little ones in his name. We love by welcoming in his name and this entails much.

Coach Jesus — Oct 19, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
Most of us hear an inner voice. For the Christian, it should be the Holy Spirit pointing us to Jesus the Christ. Jesus is our coach through life. He calls us to love; He calls us to obey; He calls us to victory in life and death. Heed the voice that comes to us through Scripture today--it's the voice of Coach Jesus.

By Being Unified — Oct 12, 2014

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

In Ephesians 4, Paul has a clear call to unity. Yet it is not unity for unities sake. The unity we have in the body has certain characteristics for the members of that body. Even more than that there is a basis for the unity which we share. It is from outside of us and it is what we build upon.

I Belong…By Being Active — Oct 5, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
We are looking at the importance of being a part of the body of Christ. This morning we will be looking at the aspect of being an active member of the body. We need to realize that we are a necessary part of the body, we need to work together, and we all need to be functioning.

It’s About the Fruit — Sep 28, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
It's About the Fruit--We had spent the last several weeks looking at our Spiritual Gifts as found in Romans 12. No look at the gifts would be complete without looking at First Corinthians 13 and understand that love should be the driving factor of all we do, including the use of our gifts.

I Feel Your Pain — Sep 21, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

From the Old Testament through the New Testament we see that He is gracious and compassionate. There are some characteristic traits that we can identify in people with the gift of mercy. We see Jesus as the one who was willing to interrupt his schedule to show mercy.

No, No, After You — Aug 17, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We are continuing our look at pursuing service by looking at the motivational gift of service. It is probably one of the most overlooked and undervalued gifts there is. This morning we will be looking at some basics about the gift, some characteristics of a person with this gift, and a study from Acts where we see the breakthrough when someone does operate in an area of service.

Gotta Speak Up — Aug 10, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In Romans 12 Paul tells us that after we have offered ourselves as living sacrifices and been transformed by the renewing of our minds THEN we can test what God's will is. He points this to the Charismata the grace gifts that he has given each of us. Today we are looking at the gift of prophecy. We will look at the difference between the Old Testament prophet and the New Testament gift of prophecy. We will look at some characteristics of a prophet. We then end with looking at the purpose of the gift today.

It’s Your Serve — Aug 3, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
We have been looking at the understanding of pursue this year. Pursue Intimacy, pursue freedom, and now we will be looking at pursuing intimacy. Paul makes it clear that after we offer our bodies as living sacrifices, and are transformed then we can understand God's will for us in serving.

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In the story of Moses and the burning bush we see the insecurities of Moses. Insecurity can rob us of being who God has called us to be. This morning we will be looking at some facts about insecurity, we will look at some reasons why we struggle with it, and finally how we can overcome it.

Afraid of What? — Jul 20, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We live in a world that wants us to be afraid and wants us to live in anxiety. We need to live by faith and not fear. We are going to be looking at the causes, the consequences, and the cure for the fear that wants to rise up within us.

A Song in My Heart — Jul 13, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger

Don’t Hold On — Jul 6, 2014

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum
We need to find freedom from our unforgiveness and find freedom through forgiveness. In order to do this we need to find out how to handle our hurts. To walk in forgiveness we need to look at the example Jesus set for us. When we do this we will find the peace that forgiveness brings.

Standing Strong — Jun 29, 2014

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum
We live in a culture where compromise is the order of the day. We have all given into it at one time or another. In order to not fall into compromise we need to know the reasons for compromise, we need to know the consequences of compromise, and how to overcome this tendency.

My Master’s Degree — Jun 22, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
Many devices we use daily such as the button at a crosswalk, the thermostat in our office, or the "door close" button in the elevator give us nothing other than a sense of control. The disciples thought they were ready to do missions, but had to be reminded by Jesus that the essentials of faith are the cross, resurrection, and forgiveness. They needed to wait until they had their "Master's degree" of empowerment through the Holy Spirit. In the meantime, they were to wait actively by worshipping God and seeking His guidance.

Weak or Powerful? — Jun 15, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
We need to take a new look at the understanding of power and authority. Many of us would not recognize how much we truly possess. It is as we understand it we will wield it healthy ways. If we do not understand what we have we will not be able to break free of the negative aspects of it in our life. In order to break free from it we need to understand the upside down nature of power in God's kingdom.

Power from on High — Jun 8, 2014

Speaker: Darren Kloepper

Pentecost Sunday is the day believers celebrate the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. However, some say that many Christians today neglect the Holy Spirit's presence. Have we forgotten the God within us who was given to remind us of truth, direct our lives, and provide transforming power? Listen today as the challenge is given to live Spirit-filled lives in the way God intended.

Cross Words — Jun 1, 2014

Speaker: Darren Kloepper
As believers, we're used to the idea that we are expected to surrender our lives to God's plan. The words of Jesus in Matthew 16:24-25 remind us of this expectation. But what does "picking up our cross" look like in daily life? Perhaps it means the same thing for believers as it meant for Jesus. Today hear how the words that Jesus spoke on the cross give "surrender" a more precise definition.

Entertain Me — May 25, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

We have an issue in our culture. An issue of believing we need to be entertained at all times. This has even crept into the church and has held many churches hostage. We need to identify the level to which our entertainment is controlling our lives. We need to be set free from it and identify what is truly worthy.

Almighty…Dollar — May 18, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

As we continue to look at this concept of the pursuit of freedom we are looking at the issue of money. The Bible has a lot to say about the concept of money and the dangers of it. We need to understand that it has become a stronghold in our culture that leads to independence and isolation. We need to do what is necessary to break free from it.

King of the Hill — May 11, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In our day success is determined as who is on top! Who is top dog or the king of the hill? Yet in the life of John the Baptist we see a successful life in the eyes of the Kingdom. In the kingdom success is from God, it is contentment with what you have, it rejoices in others success, and above all else it is about Jesus!

What’s the Intent — May 4, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Sex is an issue that no one likes to talk about especially in the church. Yet we do a major disservice to the church when we ignore this major topic which is discussed close to 300 times in scripture. We need to see that this issue of sex is a stronghold in our culture, We need to undercut this idol in our day, and we need to set proper boundaries in place.

Freedom From Me — Apr 27, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In order to gain freedom from self it takes a proper understanding of what salvation is and who salvation is for.  We need to understand who we are outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ.  We also need to understand the need we have for community.

The Reason for Freedom — Apr 20, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

As we celebrate Easter, we are reminded that we gather not for a memorial service for the dead, but to worship our living savior.  We explore what it would mean if there was no resurrection.

Testimony — Apr 13, 2014

Speaker: Dr. Christopher Yuan
Christopher, Angela, and Leon Yuan share an amazing testimony of finding God in the midst of brokenness.

Jeff’s Testimony — Apr 6, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Sermon audio is not available.

Stay on Track — Mar 30, 2014

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

The final sermon in the Pursuing Intimacy series. As we look at the parable of the persistent widow we get a glimpse of what we are called to as followers of Jesus. We are to be persistent not allowing any hindrances or hurdles to deter us from pursuing Him. We are to be insistent in our pursuit, realizing our great and desperate need of Him. We also need to be consistent in our pursuit of Him.

Battle Stations — Mar 23, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

In looking at the understand of pursuing intimacy, it is the primary means of spiritual warfare. It is His victory that we walk in. In order to do this we need to understand the importance of the greatness of our God, the importance of the armor, and the importance of prayer.

Marco…??? — Mar 16, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In our understanding of Pursuing Intimacy with God we need to understand communication is key. To have communication we not only talk but we listen as well. There are at least three hurdles to hearing God. We need to know that God desires to speak to us. Our own hearts attitudes will hinder us. Finally not knowing how God speaks to us.

Pursue to Go Between — Mar 9, 2014

Speaker: Darren Kloepper
God has given all believers a name. That name is "kingdom of priests." What's with the name? It means that like the Old Testament priests, we "go between" or "stand in the gap" in order to pray for those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Most of us know we should pray for the lost, but why don't we pray more? The message today challenges us with this question and encourages us to seek the heart of God and live up to the name He has given us.

Does That Happen? — Mar 2, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
We have been looking at the concept of pursuing God in regards to prayer. As we look at this we need to ask ourselves when is a good time to pray? In James it looks like in good times and bad is when we need to turn to God in prayer. How do we respond when we are sick? It says to call the elders to anoint and pray. The result of this is healing. What does that mean for us today?

Inner-Outer — Feb 23, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In looking at prayer there are several components we could look at. This morning we will be looking at two aspects of prayer when we ask something of God: Intercession and Petition. Intercession is when ask our intercede on the behalf of another. Petition is when we ask for ourselves. Jesus gave us the best model of praying for ourselves in the Lord's prayer.

Clout: Do You Have It? — Feb 16, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

If we understand what Jesus has done for us it should cause us to stand in awe of Him. To see that he is the right person as our great high priest. That he has the right past, facing every temptation we have. We will see he has opened for us the right place.

Jesus’ Name…. — Feb 9, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

When we think about praying in Jesus Name it stirs up some really big possibilities in us. It says to ask for anything in his name what does that mean? First we will need to look at what it does not mean. Then we will be able to look and understand what it truly does mean. It means we pray in His authority, our prayers should represent Him, and if the prayer is answered it should bring Him glory.

Following Hard — Feb 2, 2014

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum
In our lives we all pursue something! There are times that we are aware of what our pursuits are and there are times we are unaware of them. In Psalm 63 we see what it is we are to be pursuing, God! He needs to be our ultimate desire. Also in the Psalm we see that it is in our times of worship that we catch a glimpse of him that is what helps motivate our pursuit.

20/14 — Jan 26, 2014

Speaker: Darren Kloepper

With all the debates and arguments today concerning what is right and what is wrong, Christ-followers need a perspective that responses appropriately to our culture. The tension in the air today may cause some believers to become uninvolved spectators or unloving judges. However, the story in John 9 offers a third way. Here Jesus heals a blind man and what results is a testimony that none can refute and a life that all should mimic.

My Story—Subtraction & Division — Jan 19, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
Paul reminds the Corinthian church that they should be beyond baby food. The church needs to grow to handle adult food. If there is not growth, divisions and separations develop. First Mennonite Church has much good going on, but when we try to make the church my/our church and the focus isn't on God, bad things happen. With God focus for worship and service, the church will mature and grow.

Our Story - Multiplication — Jan 12, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
The church is called to multiply and grow which will happen if it follows God's plan: trust in God and Love one another. The church must practice what it preaches--loving the unloved and even the unlovable. The church needs to reconnect with its mission--believe and trust God and love as God has loved us--even to death if necessary.

His Story—Addition — Jan 5, 2014

Speaker: Jerry Flueckiger
When the need has been there, God has added what was needed. In the case of Moses God added Aaron to speak for him. With Jonah God used fish to Fed-Ex Jonah to Nineveh. When we needed salvation, God added Jesus. Jesus defies description as man/divine in same body and is necessary if God is to add men to His kingdom. God + Jesus + man = salvation

Not The End — Dec 29, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Faith vs. & Works — Dec 22, 2013

Speaker: Jeff Linthicum

Book of Joy — Dec 15, 2013

Speaker: Pastor Jeff Linthicum

Paul in the book of Philippians talks about joy 6 times, rejoice 8 times, and being glad 3 times. With such an emphasis on joy it sounds like someone on vacation. Yet Paul was in chains at the time of the writing. In the book of Philippians we see that we can have joy in this life, that comes from joy in service, which all come from a joy in the Lord.
